Fayetteville AR dump hours: when the station is open and when to hire

Fayetteville AR dump hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Saturday, 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Eligible bulky drop offs use those hours.

Quick answer. The Fayetteville AR dump hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Saturday, 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the transfer station.

That couch in the garage did not shrink while you waited for a Saturday with nothing on it.

The station is the city trash transfer station at 1560 S. Happy Hollow Road.

It is not the recycling lot next door, and it is not a place to leave a couch at dusk.

The facilities page, checked October 21, 2026, says every load has to be unloaded inside those hours.

Transfer station hours

Weekday hours end at 2 p.m. Saturday hours end at 10 a.m.

The published hours do not include a Sunday. If you roll up at 3 p.m. on a Thursday, the gate you want is already shut.

The office at the same Happy Hollow address stays open later.

The facilities page lists office hours as Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The office being open is not the same thing as the dump being open.

You pull up to the scale house window first. Staff weigh the vehicle, point you to a bay, and weigh you again on the way out. That second number is the disposal cost. Loads go on to the Eco Vista Landfill in Tontitown. If you need help unloading, bring the city's waiver. Blank forms are at the scale house.

Payment is cash, check, or an approved charge account. Major credit cards work, except Discover. The rates page, checked the same day, says the figures below are before tax.

  • The disposal minimum charge is $50.

  • Resident landfill disposal is listed at $74 per ton, with a residential minimum noted at 1,281 pounds, or 0.64 tons.

  • A non residential load, or a load from outside the city, is listed at $89 per ton, with a minimum noted at 1,051 pounds, or 0.53 tons.

A cart at the curb is a different bill. The same page lists a 32 gallon landfill cart at 13.57 dollars a month, a 64 gallon cart at 20.74 dollars, and a 96 gallon cart at 29.44 dollars. Residents are not charged for recycling.

If the bag fits the cart, the transfer station is the expensive way to do an ordinary Tuesday.

Bulky waste rules

Four free drop offs a year, and one free curb pickup, if you qualify.

The bulky waste page, also checked October 21, 2026, splits this into two offers.

Drop offs happen at the transfer station during the hours above. The curb pickup comes to a house that already has a trash cart.

Drop offs at the station

The city offers four bulky waste drop offs a year for items that will not fit in the trash cart, up to 1340 pounds a trip.

The service is free, and only for Fayetteville residents who are solid waste customers.

Bring a recent Fayetteville utility bill and a valid driver's license. Both.

A water customer who does not pay for solid waste service is not eligible, even if the bill has a Fayetteville address on it.

The page did not list the four 2026 dates when it was opened. Check it, or call the Recycling and Trash Collection office, before you load the truck and hope.

Allowed items include couches, chairs, mattresses, washers, dryers, hot water heaters, carpet, vinyl flooring, drywall, and limited paneling. Contractors cannot use the paneling line.

Air conditioners, water coolers, freezers, and refrigerators need a Freon recovery fee for each unit, and they have to come off the rest of the load.

Staff collect personal information before they take the unit.

The rates page lists that Freon recovery fee at $50 per unit. It also lists a bulk pickup minimum charge of $73.50. Read those as the city's labels.

They are not a quote for a private crew, and they are not a promise that $73.50 covers every extra trip.

Small amounts of electronics can go in a drop off: printers, computers, phones, microwaves, stereos, and televisions. The curb pickup will not take electronic waste.

The page points that pile to Free Geek, the Boston Mountain Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center, or the office on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The one yearly curb pickup

One free bulky waste pickup a year goes to single family homes, duplexes, and townhouses with trash carts.

The item has to be too big for a 33 gallon bag or the landfill cart. Think furniture, appliances, and brush or tree limbs.

You pick one category, and you get up to five items in that category.

A mix of a couch, a fridge, and a limb pile is not the deal.

Call to schedule before anything hits the curb. The page says the schedule may be two or more weeks out. That wait is the part people skip, and then they are angry at a truck that was never booked.

Set the items out by 5:00 a.m. on collection day. The night before is fine.

More than 12 hours before is not. Keep them within 5 to 6 feet of the curb, not in an alley, and not under a power line.

Do not block the street or the sidewalk, and keep the pile at least 4 feet from anything else on the ground.

The crew does not come inside. If it is still in the living room, it is still yours.

Extra pickups, still capped at five items in one category, can be scheduled for a fee.

A missed appointment can draw a rescheduling fee. The bulky page sends you to the rates page for that price.

Businesses, apartments, condos, mobile homes, complexes of three or more units, nonprofits, and industrial sites are out of the free pickup.

If that is the building, the resident program is the wrong door.

What stays on the truck

Tires, trash, and hazardous waste are not a bulky drop off.

The drop off list says no to residential and commercial garbage, leaves, grass, dirt, rocks, tires, medical waste, and hazardous waste.

Hazardous waste goes to the city's drop off trailer at S. Happy Hollow Road and 15th Street. That trailer is open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Thursday.

Check the accepted list before you drive, because a can of old paint is not a couch.

A curb pickup also leaves a lot behind. Tires, trash bags, boxes of debris, cast iron tubs, ceramic toilets and sinks, electronics, hazardous materials, railroad ties, stumps, treated lumber, and concrete slabs are excluded.

Brush is capped at limbs 12 feet long and 12 inches across, and at three standard pickup loads.

A smaller limb pile should go out as yard waste, or to the compost facility.

The recycling lots on the same road are a different gate. Happy Hollow Recycling, at 1420 S. Happy Hollow Road, is open 24 hours.

Marion Orton Recycling, at 735 W. North Street, is open 24 hours. Both take bottles, cans, paper, and cardboard. They do not take furniture or appliances.

The facilities page says leaving anything else is illegal and can draw a fine. It does not print the fine. Do not guess one, and do not use a dark lot as a dump.

Yard waste and the other gate

Grass and limbs are a compost trip, not a bulky waste trip.

The compost and mulch facility is at 1708 S. Armstrong Avenue.

The facilities page lists Tuesday and Thursday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. From November through March, the first Saturday runs 8 a.m. to noon.

From April through October, the first and second Saturdays run 8 a.m. to noon.

Fayetteville residents can drop yard waste there at no charge during those hours. The facilities page asks for a recent water bill. The rates page says a recent utility bill or an ID. Bring the bill. Commercial and non resident yard waste is not free.

The rates page starts those loads at $7.11 for a compact pickup and climbs with the size of the load.

The compost gate follows the hours above, not the transfer station clock.

Springdale is a different city

Fayetteville hours do not move a Springdale pile.

Springdale publishes its own bulky waste program. The city program page was opened October 21, 2026. It showed the program name and city hall. It did not show the yard limits.

Those limits are in a published copy of the Springdale Code bulky waste rule, chapter 102, on CityRuleLookup, checked the same day.

The quoted rule says the public works department will collect up to eight cubic yards of bulky waste per household twice a calendar year, or up to 16 cubic yards once a calendar year.

Households with more than 16 cubic yards may ask about the paid service. The quoted rate is $18.75 per cubic yard.

The sentence on that page was cut off after the rate, so the rest of the fee is not repeated here. Confirm it with the city before you put a pile at the curb.

Springdale homeowners should not borrow the Fayetteville bill and license routine.

Springdale junk removal lists 24 companies with a Springdale address. 164 more are based nearby. The Fayetteville station is still the Fayetteville station.

When to hire junk removal

If two bags fit the cart, skip the crew.

I would use the city option first when the rules say yes. The cart is for ordinary trash.

The free drop off and the yearly pickup are for the ugly piece that will not fit.

A junk crew is the next call when the city will not take the item, when you are not eligible, when the pile is still inside, or when two weeks is too long.

Stairs, a tight hall, and a wet mattress change the job. A contractor pile is not the resident pickup.

The rates page lists a 20 yard city roll off at $475 per dump, with up to 2 tons included. That is a city container price, not a private quote.

Call NWA does not haul the pile. The junk removal list has 207 companies. 132 have a Google rating stored. The average Google rating is 4.75, from 7,055 reviews.

Fayetteville junk removal lists 24 companies with a Fayetteville address. 156 more are based nearby.

Most homeowners pay about $133 to $372 for junk hauling. Typical range, based on national home service cost data. NWA quotes can differ.

That line is the junk hauling cost guide on this site, not a Fayetteville dump fee. Ask the company what the photo shows.

Volume, weight, stairs, and a fridge with a fee still change the number.

Your garage does not need a speech. It needs a decision. City hours, or a truck.

Before you drive out

Check the day, the ID, and the item before you tie it down.

  1. 1

Match the trip to the gate. Transfer station loads use the Happy Hollow hours.

Yard waste uses the Armstrong Avenue hours. Recycling drop offs are 24 hours and will not take the couch.

  2. 2

If it is bulky waste, confirm you are a Fayetteville solid waste customer and that this trip is one of the four drop offs, or a booked pickup. Bring the utility bill and the license for a drop off.

  3. 3

Pull out anything the page excludes. Tires, paint, and a loose bag of kitchen trash will not ride along for free.

  4. 4

If the city will not take it, or you cannot wait, open the junk removal list and ask one company for a quote.

Tell them about stairs and weight. Send a photo if they ask.

The hours are short on purpose. A Saturday that ends at 10 a.m. is easy to miss, and the couch will still be in the garage at 10:15.
